(Tune: B-I-N-G-O) Some are YELLOW Some are GREEN And some are juicy RED A-P-P-L-E A-P-P-L-E A-P-P-L-E These apples are for me! Our MAD Science experiment was an apple one, of course! We soaked apple pieces in water, vinegar, oil, and one sat in air. We made hypotheses about what would happen by the end of the week, and we recorded our observations. We also had a STEM challenge to build an apple tree with blocks. I loved all the creativity. Each friend built a tree with their own unique style! Along with apples, we studies shapes. We focused on squares, circles, triangles, and rectangles. We talked about the attributes of each shape, compared sizes and made shape pictures. We had a fun filled week! The students also LOVED tasting apples on Friday. Most friends preferred red, but I was surprised by how many liked green. I also showed the kids some apple recipes I had (I had an oven in my previous classroom) and I told them I would share them all with you to make at home :) The apple nachos are my personal favorite!

Our week started off with a MAD Science Monday experiment that we had to observe all week long. What started as adding food coloring to 3 containers and making bridges with paper towels, ended with a Walking Rainbow! Students had fun recording their observations on Friday. We also had three friends bring in a book from home to read to the class. This was a fun experience for the readers and the audience. Here are some more photos from the week. We played Brown Bear Bingo, made a Brown Bear Graph in groups, played outside, and read lots of color books. I think a class favorite was The Day the Crayons Quit. Next week is APPLE week! If you could send in a red, green, or yellow apple by Friday, that will help with our apple taste test. And students are SUPER excited to get our tenth hawk! Thursday will be PJ Day!
We've had a great start to kindergarten so far! It's been fun watching the students get to know each other and form friendships already. We have read A LOT of stories, performed a science experiment, attended all of our resource classes, eaten lunch, and enjoyed lots of outside time. We are looking forward to color fun next week! Don't forget Back to School Night is Thursday, September 19th.
